As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during teacher absences and ensuring students remain engaged with the work set.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects.
- Supervise whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and in line with the school's behaviour policy.
- Ensure students remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout lessons.
- Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
- Record attendance and report any issues or concerns to relevant staff members.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the wider school community and participate in school activities where required.
- Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Confidence in leading groups of secondary-aged students.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work across a variety of subject areas.
- Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to work.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role.
- Degree-level education or relevant qualifications.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and secondary school practices.
