Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Place your Cat C / 18T licence prominently in a dedicated 'Licences & Certifications' section at the top of your CV — the advert lists this as the first hard requirement.

2

📊 Quantify your driving experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ customer deliveries per shift across a 60-mile radius with zero missed delivery windows over 18 months'.

3

🎯 Highlight any wholesale, food service or FMCG delivery background specifically, as Booker serves independent retailers and caterers — sector-relevant experience will stand out.

4

🤝 Include a line about customer relationship-building in your personal statement, as the advert explicitly mentions 'building relationships with regular customers' as a core part of the role.

5

📋 Mention experience completing delivery documentation accurately (POD, delivery notes, tachograph records) — the advert calls out paperwork completion as a direct responsibility.

Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

I hold a full Cat C licence and bring over two years of delivery driving experience, including multi-drop runs and accurate completion of delivery documentation on every shift.

My background in commercial delivery driving has given me a solid grounding in pre-use vehicle checks, safe manual handling, and building reliable relationships with regular customers — exactly the qualities your advert highlights. I am comfortable with weekend working and flexible shift patterns, and I take pride in ensuring every customer receives their delivery on time and in full.

Exemples de réponses STAR

Réponses modèles avec la méthode Situation-Tâche-Action-Résultat. À adapter à votre vécu.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult customer during a delivery — how did you handle it?

Situation: While delivering chilled goods to a busy independent café, the owner disputed the quantity on the delivery note, insisting two cases of stock were missing. Task: I needed to resolve the disagreement quickly without delaying the remaining four stops on my route. Action: I calmly walked the customer through each item on the manifest, cross-checked the van load against the paperwork, and identified that two cases had been loaded behind a pallet divider and overlooked. I unloaded them immediately and apologised for the confusion. Result: The customer received the full order within ten minutes, signed off the delivery without issue, and specifically mentioned my professionalism to my depot manager the following week.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to complete a delivery under significant time pressure. What did you do?

Situation: A road closure on my usual route added 40 minutes to my schedule mid-shift, putting three time-sensitive deliveries to school canteens at risk. Task: I had to reorganise my remaining drops to meet the canteens' 11:30 cut-off times without compromising safety. Action: I pulled over safely, contacted the depot to flag the delay, then resequenced my final five stops using my knowledge of the local road network to prioritise the time-critical canteen deliveries first. Result: All three canteen deliveries arrived by 11:25, the remaining two stops were completed by 13:10, and I submitted a route feedback note that the depot used to update the standard run plan.
