Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with your Cat B / 3.5T licence prominently in your Personal Statement, as the advert lists this as a hard requirement before any other criteria.

2

📊 Quantify your delivery experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ daily drops across a 40-mile radius with a 99% on-time delivery rate over 3 years.'

3

🎯 Highlight any experience serving trade or wholesale customers (retailers, caterers, small businesses) as Booker's client base is specifically independent retailers and caterers — not domestic consumers.

4

🤝 Include a line about building repeat customer relationships, as the advert explicitly mentions 'building relationships with our regular customers' as a key part of the role.

5

📋 Mention accuracy in delivery paperwork or handheld scanning systems if applicable, as the advert calls out paperwork completion as a specific responsibility.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult or unhappy customer during a delivery — what happened and how did you resolve it?

Situation: While working as a delivery driver for a regional food wholesaler, I arrived at a busy café to find the owner frustrated because three items on the order were missing from the load. Task: I needed to resolve the situation calmly, maintain the customer relationship, and ensure the missing stock reached them the same day. Action: I apologised sincerely, confirmed the shortage on the paperwork, contacted the depot immediately, and arranged for a same-day supplementary drop later that afternoon. I also gave the owner the direct depot number for future queries. Result: The café owner thanked me personally on my next visit and continued as a regular customer. The depot used my feedback to improve the pick-check process, reducing similar errors by roughly 20% over the following month.
2Question

Describe a situation where you were running behind schedule on your delivery route. How did you manage it?

Situation: During a busy Friday shift delivering to 18 independent retailers, a 40-minute road closure added significant delay to my route mid-morning. Task: I had to ensure all customers still received their deliveries within acceptable windows, particularly two café customers who needed stock before their lunchtime service. Action: I immediately reprioritised my remaining drops, contacting the two time-critical customers by phone to give them an updated ETA, then rerouted using my knowledge of local back roads to recover around 25 minutes. I also called the depot to flag the delay on my paperwork. Result: Both café customers received their deliveries 10 minutes before their lunch rush, and I completed all 18 drops only 15 minutes behind the original schedule with no customer complaints logged.
