Nos conseils pour postuler

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Place your Class 1 licence number and CPC expiry date prominently at the top of your CV under a 'Licences & Certifications' section, as these are the two non-negotiable requirements stated in the advert.

2

📊 Quantify your driving experience: e.g. 'Completed 4–6 multi-drop deliveries per shift across East Anglia, averaging 250 miles daily with zero incidents over 3 years.'

3

🚛 Specifically mention curtainside trailer experience in your skills section, as the advert highlights this as the primary trailer type on this contract.

4

🎯 Reference your PAYE employment history clearly — the advert stresses SafeRec-accredited PAYE compliance, so avoid listing umbrella or limited company engagements without clarification.

5

🤝 Include a brief note on your availability for immediate start and willingness to convert to permanent employment, as the advert emphasises temp-to-perm for the right candidate.

Aperçu — adapté à Swift Recruit

Dear Hiring Manager,

Swift Recruit's Class 1 Day Driver vacancy in Swaffham is a strong match for my current licence portfolio and experience. I hold a valid Class 1 HGV licence, an up-to-date Driver CPC card, and a current Digi card, and I have hands-on experience with curtainside trailers across multi-drop regional routes — precisely the combination your contract requires.

My background in HGV driving includes completing 4–5 drops per shift across East Anglian routes, maintaining full tachograph compliance and conducting thorough pre-departure checks on every run. I am comfortable working independently on day shifts and take pride in delivering safely and on time, which I understand is a priority for drivers already on this contract.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to adapt your schedule due to an unexpected road closure or delay.

Situation: During a 5-drop regional run across Norfolk, I encountered an unplanned road closure on the A47 that added an estimated 40 minutes to my route. Task: I needed to complete all 5 deliveries within the agreed time windows to avoid failed drops and customer complaints. Action: I immediately contacted the depot to flag the delay, then re-sequenced my remaining 3 drops to prioritise the two with the tightest time windows, using a live traffic app to identify an alternative route saving 25 minutes. Result: I completed all 5 drops with only one minor delay of 8 minutes, which the customer had already been notified about, and received positive feedback from the transport manager at debrief.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified a safety concern with your vehicle or load and how you handled it.

Situation: During a pre-departure check on a curtainside trailer, I noticed that two of the load straps securing a pallet of building materials showed visible fraying near the buckle. Task: The vehicle was due to depart within 15 minutes for a 3-drop run, and the load was already palletised and staged. Action: I immediately reported the defect to the yard supervisor, refused to accept the trailer in that condition, and completed a written defect report. The straps were replaced within 20 minutes using spares from the equipment store. Result: The departure was delayed by 22 minutes but all 3 drops were completed safely and on time. The depot updated its pre-load inspection checklist as a direct result of my report.
