Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Tesco's reputation for putting customers at the heart of every delivery is precisely what draws me to the Customer Delivery Driver role at the Bishop's Stortford Superstore. With experience in van-based home delivery and a strong track record of customer-facing service, I am confident I can represent Tesco professionally on every round.

My background in delivery driving includes completing high-volume daily drop schedules across multiple postcodes, carrying out pre-shift vehicle checks, and handling customer queries at the door with patience and a positive manner. Exemples de réponses STAR

Réponses modèles avec la méthode Situation-Tâche-Action-Résultat. À adapter à votre vécu.

1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered excellent customer service under time pressure.

Situation: During a busy Saturday shift at a previous delivery role, I had 32 drops scheduled but two addresses had incorrect postcodes, putting me 25 minutes behind. Task: I needed to complete all deliveries within the shift window without compromising the customer experience. Action: I contacted the depot to clarify the addresses, re-sequenced my remaining route using the sat-nav, and called ahead to two customers to give revised arrival times. Result: I completed all 32 drops with only one delivery running 10 minutes late, and that customer left a five-star feedback note thanking me for the advance call. The depot supervisor noted it as best practice for the team.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to deal with a frustrated or unhappy customer — how did you handle it?

Situation: A customer at a home delivery drop was upset because three items were missing from her order — it had been picked incorrectly at the warehouse before I collected it. Task: I needed to resolve her frustration on the doorstep without the authority to issue refunds myself. Action: I listened without interrupting, acknowledged the inconvenience, and immediately called the customer helpline on her behalf so she could speak to an advisor while I was still present. I also logged the missing items on the handheld device to flag the picking error. Result: The customer received a full refund within 24 hours and told my manager she appreciated that I stayed calm and took ownership rather than deflecting blame.
