I nostri consigli per candidarsi

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with your NEBOSH or IOSH qualification prominently in your Personal Statement — the advert lists this as the first essential requirement.

2

📊 Quantify your facilities management experience: e.g. 'Managed H&S compliance across a 12,000 sq ft leisure facility serving 800+ members daily'.

3

🎯 Highlight Duty Manager experience explicitly, as the role requires regularly acting in this capacity — describe the scope of accountability (staff numbers, site size, incident response).

4

🤝 Include a bullet demonstrating contractor management: e.g. 'Supervised 6 self-employed contractors across planned and reactive maintenance programmes, ensuring 100% compliance with site induction requirements'.

5

🏋️ Reference experience in a service-led environment (restaurant, leisure, retail or attraction) as the advert specifically calls this out — name the venue type and team size you managed.

Aperçu — adapté à David Lloyd Clubs

Dear Hiring Manager,

David Lloyd Clubs' reputation as Europe's leading premium health and wellness group makes the Health & Safety Manager role in Colchester a compelling next step for me. With a NEBOSH qualification and proven experience managing H&S compliance and facility maintenance in a service-led environment, I am confident I can uphold the rigorous standards your members and team expect.

My background in facilities and health and safety management includes overseeing a 15-person operational team, conducting regular risk assessments, and coordinating a roster of self-employed contractors to ensure planned and reactive maintenance met both legislative requirements and internal KPIs. Acting as Duty Manager on a rotational basis, I developed strong incident-response protocols that reduced reportable near-misses by 30% over 12 months.

1Question

Tell me about a time you identified a significant health and safety risk and the steps you took to resolve it.

Situation: During a routine inspection of a leisure centre pool plant room, I discovered that ventilation maintenance had been missed for 11 months, creating a chloramine build-up risk for staff. Task: I needed to remediate the hazard immediately while keeping the facility operational and preventing recurrence. Action: I isolated the affected area, arranged an emergency contractor visit within 24 hours, and introduced a monthly plant room sign-off checklist tied to our facilities management software. I also delivered a refresher briefing to the 8-person maintenance team on chemical exposure risks. Result: The ventilation system was fully serviced within 48 hours, and the new checklist caught two further minor issues in the following quarter before they escalated — reducing our near-miss log entries by 40%.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to enforce compliance standards with a resistant team member or contractor.

Situation: A self-employed electrical contractor repeatedly bypassed our site induction process, arriving on site and beginning work before signing in or reviewing the risk assessment. Task: As H&S Manager I was accountable for ensuring all contractors met our compliance requirements before commencing any work. Action: I met with the contractor directly, documented the two previous breaches, and issued a formal written warning stating that a third breach would result in removal from the approved supplier list. I also updated the site access procedure so the reception team could not issue a contractor pass without a completed induction record. Result: The contractor complied fully on all subsequent visits, and the revised access process reduced unsigned induction records across all contractors from 15% to zero within two months.
