Nos conseils pour postuler

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Place your HGV licence class (Class 1 or Class 2) and Driver CPC status at the very top of your CV in a dedicated 'Licences & Certifications' section, as these are the primary requirements stated in the advert.

2

📊 Quantify your multi-drop experience: e.g. 'Completed 18-stop multi-drop routes daily across West Yorkshire, achieving 97% on-time delivery rate over 2 years.'

3

🌐 Highlight any experience with temperature-controlled or chilled/frozen food deliveries, as the advert specifically mentions this as a preferred background for Booker's wholesale network.

4

🎯 Emphasise your ability to work rotating shift patterns and adapt to varying routes at short notice — the advert explicitly flags flexibility as a requirement, so include a line in your personal statement confirming this.

5

🤝 Mention any experience serving independent retailers, cash-and-carry customers, or food service businesses, as Booker's core client base is independent retailers and caterers across 190+ branches.

Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Booker's role as the UK's leading food and drink wholesaler — supplying over 190 cash-and-carry branches and independent retailers nationwide — is exactly the environment where my HGV driving experience is best applied. I hold a valid Class 1 licence and current Driver CPC, and have completed multi-drop routes servicing up to 20 independent retail stops per shift, including handball deliveries of chilled and ambient product.

My background in food distribution includes 3 years operating temperature-controlled vehicles on rotating shift patterns across West Yorkshire, consistently meeting delivery windows while maintaining full tachograph compliance. I am comfortable adapting routes at short notice and have regularly worked in outdoor and adverse weather conditions without compromising delivery accuracy or customer service standards.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to adapt your delivery route at short notice — what did you do and what was the outcome?

Situation: Midway through a 16-stop multi-drop run in Leeds, I received a call from the depot informing me that a road closure on my planned route would add 45 minutes to my remaining deliveries. Task: I needed to resequence 8 remaining drops to avoid the closure and still meet the last retailer's 14:00 cut-off. Action: I pulled over safely, used my in-cab navigation to identify an alternative sequence, contacted two retailers to advise of revised ETAs, and adjusted my tachograph break accordingly. Result: I completed all 16 drops by 13:50, received positive feedback from the depot manager, and avoided any customer complaints. The revised route became a template used by two other drivers that week.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to deal with a difficult or unhappy retailer on your delivery round.

Situation: On a Monday morning run, a convenience store owner in Wakefield refused a delivery of 4 ambient pallets, claiming the order was incorrect and blocking my offload bay. Task: I needed to resolve the dispute on the spot without delaying 11 subsequent drops. Action: I calmly checked the delivery note against the load manifest, confirmed the order matched the retailer's own purchase order, and offered to contact the Booker customer service line directly from the cab so the owner could speak to an account manager in real time. Result: The retailer accepted the delivery after a 12-minute call, I completed my remaining drops on schedule, and the depot logged the interaction to flag the account for a follow-up visit. No formal complaint was raised.
