SEN Recruitment Consultant - Hemel Hempstead | Warm Desk | Immediate Billing Opportunities

Are you an ambitious recruiter looking for a genuine opportunity to hit the ground running and earn commission from day one in Hemel Hempstead?

We're seeking a driven SEN Recruitment Consultant to join our established team, inheriting a warm, high-performing desk with immediate billing opportunities. This SEN Recruitment Consultant opportunity has become available due to an internal change, creating a rare chance to take over a desk that previously peaked at 90 days billed and has a strong network of established school partnerships across Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding areas.

As an SEN Recruitment Consultant, you'll benefit from a full handover of existing clients, active vacancies, and candidate relationships, allowing you to generate revenue and commission from your very first day. The desk is currently being covered, meaning we can accommodate both immediate and later start dates for the right candidate.

What's on Offer?

  • Warm SEN Recruitment Consultant desk with established client relationships
  • Full handover from the existing consultant
  • Immediate opportunities to earn commission from day one
  • Basic salary of £28,000 - £35,000 depending on experience and billing history
  • Realistic first-year OTE of £50,000+
  • Clear progression opportunities within a growing business
  • Regular incentives, rewards, and team events
  • Modern office in Hemel Hempstead with excellent transport links
  • On-site parking provided
  • Ongoing training and support from experienced recruitment leaders

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a motivated and resilient SEN Recruitment Consultant or sales professional who is passionate about building relationships and delivering exceptional service to schools and candidates.

Due to the remote locations of some of the schools you will be visiting across Hemel Hempstead and the wider region, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be highly desirable.

Whether you're an experienced recruiter seeking a fresh challenge or someone looking to build a successful recruitment career, this SEN Recruitment Consultant opportunity offers the platform, support, and earning potential to thrive.

If you're ready to take ownership of a warm desk and build a rewarding career in Hemel Hempstead, we'd love to hear from you.

Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Highlight any prior SEN or education recruitment experience at the top of your CV — the advert specifically names SEN as the desk specialism and school partnerships as the core asset.

2

📊 Quantify your billing history: e.g. "Billed £18,000 in first quarter, achieving 110% of target across 12 active school clients." The advert references a desk that peaked at 90 days billed, so matching metrics will resonate.

3

🚗 Explicitly state your full UK driving licence and vehicle access in your Personal Statement — the advert flags this as highly desirable due to remote school visits across the Hemel Hempstead region.

4

🎯 Emphasise experience inheriting or managing a warm desk — the role's key selling point is a handover of established clients and vacancies, so demonstrate you can capitalise on existing relationships rather than building from scratch.

5

🤝 Reference specific examples of school or education-sector client management, even if from a different recruitment vertical — the advert stresses delivering "exceptional service to schools and candidates" as a core requirement.

Aperçu — adapté à Academics

Dear Hiring Manager,

Academics' SEN Recruitment Consultant opening in Hemel Hempstead is exactly the kind of opportunity I have been seeking — a warm desk with an established school partnership network and the chance to generate commission from day one. My background in 360 recruitment and client relationship management means I can step into a handover situation and protect billing momentum without a lengthy ramp-up period.

My background in education and specialist recruitment has given me direct experience managing active vacancy pipelines, building candidate relationships across niche markets, and converting lapsed school clients into consistent billing accounts. In my most recent role I managed a desk of 25 active school clients, placing over 40 SEN teaching assistants in a single term and achieving 115% of quarterly billing target.

1Question

Tell me about a time you took over an existing desk or client portfolio — how did you build trust quickly and maintain billing momentum?

Situation: When a senior consultant left our agency at short notice, I was asked to absorb her portfolio of 18 school clients in addition to my own patch. Task: I needed to reassure clients, maintain live placements, and prevent any billing drop in the first 30 days. Action: I called every client within 48 hours, introduced myself personally, and scheduled face-to-face visits with the 6 highest-value accounts within the first week. I also audited all open vacancies and prioritised the 4 roles closest to offer stage. Result: I retained all 18 clients, closed 3 placements within the first fortnight, and the combined desk billed £14,500 in that first month — 12% above the previous consultant's average.
2Question

Describe a situation where a school client was unhappy with a candidate placement. How did you handle it and what was the outcome?

Situation: Three days into a long-term SEN teaching assistant placement, the SENCO at a primary school called to say the candidate's behaviour management approach did not align with their EHCP framework. Task: I needed to resolve the situation quickly to protect both the school relationship and the candidate's welfare. Action: I visited the school the same afternoon, listened to the SENCO's concerns in detail, and arranged a structured debrief with the candidate. I identified a skills gap around a specific communication method the school used and sourced a replacement candidate with direct experience in that approach within 24 hours. Result: The school filled the role without further disruption, the original candidate was redeployed to a more suitable placement the following week, and the school went on to book 4 further placements with us that term.
