Nos conseils pour postuler

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Open your Personal Statement with direct SEN experience — the advert explicitly requires PMLD and complex needs background, so name specific diagnoses (ASD, PMLD) you have supported in your first two lines.

2

📊 Quantify your impact: e.g. 'Delivered 1:1 PMLD support for 4 pupils across a 6-month placement, contributing to measurable progress in 3 EHCP targets'.

3

🎯 Highlight personal care experience (toileting, feeding) clearly in your skills section — the advert flags this as a specific requirement and many candidates omit it.

4

🌐 Reference any CPD or training completed (e.g. Makaton, Team Teach, manual handling) as the advert promotes 2,000 free CPD courses, signalling the employer values continuous learning.

5

🤝 Include a bullet on partnership working — the advert stresses collaboration with parents, therapists and class teachers, so demonstrate multi-agency or team-based experience explicitly.

My background in SEN education includes collaborating with class teachers, speech and language therapists, and families to deliver bespoke support plans tailored to individual EHCP targets. 1Question

Tell me about a time you supported a pupil who displayed challenging behaviour — what did you do and what was the outcome?

Situation: A 10-year-old pupil with ASD at my previous SEN school regularly became dysregulated during unstructured lunch breaks, resulting in physical outbursts up to three times per week. Task: As his designated 1:1 TA, I was responsible for reducing these incidents and supporting his emotional regulation. Action: I introduced a visual schedule for the lunch period, created a quiet corner with sensory resources, and used Makaton signs to give him advance warnings of transitions. I also briefed lunchtime supervisors on his triggers. Result: Within six weeks, recorded incidents dropped from three per week to fewer than one, and his class teacher noted improved focus during afternoon sessions.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to show resilience when working with a child with complex needs.

Situation: I was supporting a 14-year-old with PMLD and a secondary medical condition that caused frequent seizures during the school day. Task: I needed to maintain consistent, calm support while managing the emotional demands of witnessing medical episodes regularly. Action: I completed additional first-aid and epilepsy awareness training, established a clear post-seizure recovery routine with the school nurse, and attended weekly supervision sessions to process the emotional impact. I also kept detailed daily logs to identify seizure patterns. Result: Over one term, the pupil's recovery time after episodes reduced from 45 minutes to around 20 minutes, and I maintained consistent attendance throughout a challenging placement without any safeguarding concerns raised.
