Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Highlight a valid UK driving licence prominently at the top of your CV — this is the non-negotiable requirement for any delivery driver role at Tesco.

2

📊 Quantify your delivery experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ home deliveries per shift across a 40-mile radius with a 98% on-time rate'.

3

🎯 Mention any experience working within availability windows or split shifts, as Tesco specifically advertises fixed time bands (e.g. evenings and weekends) and values schedule compatibility.

4

🤝 Reference direct customer interaction experience — the advert stresses meeting customers in their homes daily, so note any face-to-face service roles (retail, care, hospitality).

5

🌐 If you have experience driving within the M25 or in Watford/Hertfordshire specifically, state this — Tesco pays a higher rate for M25 stores and local route knowledge is a practical asset.

1Question

Tell me about a time you went out of your way to help a customer who needed extra assistance.

Situation: During a morning delivery round, I arrived at a property where an elderly customer was struggling to carry her bags from the doorstep to her kitchen. Task: My schedule had 19 remaining drops, but leaving her without help felt wrong. Action: I carried all six bags through to her kitchen, checked she had everything she needed, and noted her preference for bags left inside the door on my handheld device for future drivers. I radioed my supervisor to flag a 4-minute delay. Result: The customer called the depot to compliment the service, and my supervisor shared the feedback at the team briefing. I completed the remaining drops on time.
2Question

Describe a situation where your schedule changed at short notice and how you adapted.

Situation: Thirty minutes into a Saturday evening shift, a colleague called in sick and I was asked to absorb 8 of their 14 remaining drops on top of my own 20. Task: I needed to replan my route and complete 28 drops before the last delivery slot closed at 10 pm. Action: I used the depot's routing app to merge both drop lists by postcode cluster, cutting 6 miles of backtracking. I also called ahead to 3 customers with later slots to confirm they were still home. Result: I completed all 28 deliveries by 9:47 pm with zero failed drops and received a team recognition note from the duty manager.
