Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with a Personal Statement that explicitly names 'washroom systems', 'plumbing', and 'electrical maintenance' — the advert repeats these three times as essential requirements.

2

📊 Quantify your maintenance experience: e.g. 'Serviced 25+ commercial washroom units across 10 client sites per week, maintaining a 98% first-visit fix rate'.

3

🚗 Confirm your full UK driving licence prominently in your CV header or skills section — the advert lists it as an essential requirement and the role covers Bristol, Swindon, South West, and South Wales.

4

🎯 Highlight any experience with commercial or corporate sites specifically, as the employer works across corporate washroom environments — distinguish this from domestic plumbing work.

5

🔒 Mention your willingness and eligibility to undergo a DBS check, as this is required after the six-month probation period — a brief note in your cover letter reassures the employer.

Aperçu — adapté à Gotpeople

Dear Hiring Manager,

Gotpeople's Handyperson role covering Bristol and the wider South West is a strong match for my background in practical maintenance. The requirement for hands-on plumbing and electrical skills, combined with washroom systems installation across corporate sites, aligns directly with the work I have been doing in commercial maintenance environments.

My background in plumbing maintenance and electrical fault-finding has equipped me to carry out reactive repairs, conduct site inspections, and install fixtures such as hand dryers and air fresheners efficiently and safely. I hold a full UK driving licence and am comfortable managing a varied daily schedule across multiple client sites independently, maintaining accurate records throughout.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage multiple maintenance jobs across different sites in a single day — how did you prioritise?

Situation: Working for a facilities contractor, I was assigned five reactive repair call-outs across three sites in a single day, including two urgent washroom blockages and three routine inspections. Task: I needed to complete all five jobs within business hours while keeping travel time efficient. Action: I mapped the sites geographically and tackled the two urgent blockages first thing in the morning, then sequenced the inspections by proximity to avoid backtracking. I updated the job management system after each visit. Result: All five jobs were completed by 4:30 pm, both urgent repairs were resolved on the first visit, and the client reported no service disruption across any of the three sites.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified a maintenance issue during a routine inspection that the client was unaware of. What did you do?

Situation: During a scheduled inspection of a corporate washroom block, I noticed a slow leak behind a concealed cistern that had not been reported by the client. Task: The leak was minor but risked causing water damage to the floor substrate if left unaddressed. Action: I photographed the fault, logged it in the maintenance record, and immediately informed the site facilities manager. I had the necessary parts in the van and carried out a temporary repair on the spot, then raised a follow-up job for a permanent fix the following week. Result: The permanent repair was completed within five days, preventing an estimated £800 in floor damage, and the client commended the proactive approach in their quarterly review.
