Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV personal statement with sales target achievement — the advert explicitly prioritises "results driven" candidates who have "experience of reaching sales targets and KPI" above design credentials.

2

📊 Quantify your sales wins: e.g. "Exceeded monthly revenue target by 22% for 8 consecutive months, generating £140k in kitchen sales" — Howdens rewards depot-level performance metrics.

3

🎯 Mention any experience conducting home visits or client surveys, as the role explicitly requires visiting clients to measure and assess spaces — a differentiator few applicants will highlight.

4

🚗 Confirm your full UK driving licence and own vehicle access prominently in your CV header or profile — this is a stated essential requirement and omitting it risks automatic screening out.

5

🖥️ If you have any CAD or kitchen design software experience (even basic), name the tool explicitly (e.g. "Experienced with Winner Design / Fusion / ArtiCAD") — the advert flags CAD as preferred and training is provided, so any prior exposure strengthens your application.

1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a sales target — what did you do differently to achieve it?

Situation: In my previous role at a bathroom showroom, our depot was 12% below its quarterly revenue target with six weeks remaining. Task: As the senior sales consultant, I took ownership of closing the gap without additional headcount. Action: I reviewed my existing customer pipeline and identified 15 trade accounts that had not reordered in 90 days. I called each one personally, offered a product knowledge session, and followed up with tailored quotes within 24 hours. I also introduced a weekly tracker to monitor each account's order value. Result: We closed the quarter at 109% of target — £28,000 above plan — and three of those dormant accounts became top-ten customers the following quarter.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust quickly with a new trade customer. What approach did you take?

Situation: A local building contractor placed a small first order worth £800 but mentioned they had three kitchen projects starting within two months. Task: I needed to establish credibility quickly to become their preferred supplier before competitors approached them. Action: I arranged a depot walkthrough within 48 hours, introduced them to our product range, and personally handled their first order from design through to delivery, flagging a lead-time issue proactively and resolving it before it affected their site schedule. Result: The contractor placed two further orders totalling £14,500 within six weeks and referred two colleagues to the depot, generating an additional £9,200 in new business that quarter.
