1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered outstanding service to a trade customer under significant time pressure.

Situation: A returning builder arrived at our counter 20 minutes before close needing 14 cabinet units for a site start the following morning. Task: I had to verify stock, confirm pricing, and arrange next-day delivery within minutes. Action: I checked live stock across two nearby branches, identified that 10 units were on-site and 4 could be transferred overnight, then called the delivery coordinator directly to book an early slot. I also prepared the full invoice while the customer was still at the counter. Result: The order was confirmed in under 15 minutes, delivery arrived on site by 8am, and the customer placed three further orders with us over the next month.
2Question

Give an example of when you successfully grew an existing customer account — what actions did you take?

Situation: A local joinery contractor was spending roughly £800 per month with us but regularly mentioned buying flooring and hardware elsewhere. Task: My goal was to consolidate more of his spend through our depot. Action: I reviewed his order history, identified the product categories he wasn't buying from us, and arranged a 20-minute product walk-around to show him our hardware and flooring ranges with a matched price comparison. I also set him up on our trade account for 30-day credit terms. Result: Within three months his monthly spend increased to £2,100, and he referred two other contractors to the depot, adding a further £1,400 in new monthly revenue.
