Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Highlight any prior warehouse or distribution centre experience at the top of your CV, as the advert specifically seeks operatives familiar with pick-and-pack and handheld terminals.

2

📊 Quantify your picking accuracy or throughput: e.g. "Picked 400+ orders per shift with 99% accuracy across ambient and chilled zones."

3

🎯 Mention any LLOP or FLT licences you hold, as the advert explicitly flags these as training opportunities — existing certification will set you apart.

4

🌐 Reference experience working across ambient, chilled, or freezer environments if applicable, as Tesco's Fareham DC operates all three sections.

5

🤝 Emphasise your ability to work flexible shift patterns (any 5 from 7) and afternoon/evening hours, as the role requires 2pm–10pm availability.

Dear Hiring Manager,

Tesco's Fareham distribution centre role of Warehouse Operative is a strong match for my skills in pick-and-pack operations and handheld terminal use. Having worked in fast-paced distribution environments where order accuracy and on-time fulfilment are paramount, I understand the discipline required to maintain throughput across ambient, chilled, and freezer zones on afternoon and evening shifts.

My background in warehouse operations includes receiving and stacking stock, maintaining clean and safe working environments, and consistently meeting pick-rate targets under time pressure. I am fully available for the 2pm–10pm shift pattern across any five days from seven, and I am keen to develop my skills further through the LLOP and FLT training opportunities available at the Fareham DC.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to work quickly to meet a tight deadline in a warehouse or logistics setting.

Situation: During a peak promotional period at a wholesale distribution centre, our team received 30% more orders than a typical Tuesday shift with no additional headcount. Task: I needed to clear my assigned picking zone of 280 lines by 9pm to meet the outbound lorry departure. Action: I reorganised my pick route to reduce travel time between aisles, communicated proactively with the team leader when I spotted a stock shortfall on one SKU, and maintained a steady pace without sacrificing accuracy. Result: I completed all 280 lines by 8:45pm with zero picking errors, and the lorry departed on schedule. The team leader noted my approach in the shift debrief.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified a safety hazard at work and explain what action you took.

Situation: While working a late shift in the chilled section of a distribution centre, I noticed a pallet had been stacked unevenly and was leaning towards a main pedestrian walkway. Task: As a warehouse operative, I had a duty to prevent injury to colleagues and ensure the area remained safe. Action: I immediately cordoned off a 2-metre exclusion zone using safety cones, reported the hazard to the shift supervisor within five minutes, and assisted in restacking the pallet correctly using the LLOP under supervision. Result: The walkway was cleared and safe within 15 minutes, no injuries occurred, and the incident was logged as a near-miss, prompting a team briefing on correct pallet stacking heights the following morning.
