1Question

Tell me about a time you adapted your teaching style to support a student who was struggling with a core Business Studies concept.

Situation: A Year 12 student was consistently underperforming on cash flow forecasting tasks, scoring below 40% on three consecutive assessments. Task: I needed to identify the root cause and redesign my approach before her mock examination in six weeks. Action: I ran two one-to-one sessions using visual cash flow templates and real-world examples from a local retail business she was familiar with. I also created a short video walkthrough she could revisit independently. Result: She scored 74% in her mock and went on to achieve a B grade in her A-Level, having entered the year predicted a D. The visual resources were later adopted across the department for all Year 12 cohorts.
2Question

Describe how you have handled living or working in an unfamiliar environment and what strategies helped you settle in.

Situation: I took up a teaching post at a school in a city where I knew nobody, having relocated from my home region for the role. Task: I needed to integrate quickly into the school community and establish effective working relationships within the first half-term. Action: I proactively joined the school's staff sports team, attended every departmental social event, and arranged informal coffee meetings with three colleagues from different year groups each week. I also familiarise myself with local amenities within the first fortnight to reduce daily stress. Result: By the end of the first term, I had co-led a cross-departmental project with two colleagues and received positive feedback in my first formal observation, rated 'Good with Outstanding features' by my line manager.
