Unsere Tipps für Ihre Bewerbung

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your Personal Statement with direct experience supporting children in care, as the advert explicitly requires previous experience working with children and young people.

2

📊 Quantify your care experience: e.g. 'Supported 8 looked-after children across 3 residential settings, completing daily logs and incident reports for 12 months'.

3

🛡️ Explicitly mention your DBS status (enhanced preferred) and any safeguarding training (e.g. Level 1/2 Safeguarding Children) as the advert flags safeguarding as a core duty.

4

📋 Highlight your Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification prominently if you hold it — the advert lists it as preferred and it will differentiate you from other applicants at this pay band.

5

🚗 State your driving licence and access to a vehicle clearly in your CV header or profile, as drivers are explicitly preferred and travel flexibility is listed as essential.

1Question

Tell me about a time you supported a child who was displaying challenging behaviour — how did you manage the situation?

Situation: During a residential shift, a 13-year-old in my care became verbally aggressive and began throwing objects following a difficult phone call with a family member. Task: My responsibility was to de-escalate the situation safely while keeping other young people in the house calm. Action: I used a low-arousal approach, giving the young person space, speaking in a calm and steady tone, and redirecting their focus to a preferred activity — drawing — which was noted in their care plan. I also quietly asked a colleague to check on the other two residents. Result: The young person settled within 20 minutes. I completed a detailed incident report and flagged the trigger to the keyworker the following morning, which led to an updated communication strategy in the care plan.
2Question

Give an example of when you identified a safeguarding concern and explain the steps you took.

Situation: While completing a handover note at the end of a shift, I noticed unexplained bruising on the arm of a 10-year-old who had been reluctant to engage all day. Task: As the support worker on duty, I had a responsibility to report any concerns immediately in line with the home's safeguarding policy. Action: I documented my observations accurately in the incident log with timestamps, informed the on-call manager within 15 minutes, and ensured the child was not left alone until the manager arrived. I avoided asking leading questions but noted the child's own words verbatim. Result: The manager escalated to the local authority designated safeguarding lead that evening. A strategy meeting was convened within 48 hours, and my detailed record was cited as key evidence in the initial assessment.
