Nos conseils pour postuler

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with your valid UK driving licence details (licence type, years held, penalty points) as this is the single non-negotiable requirement stated in the advert.

2

📊 Quantify your delivery or customer-facing experience: "Completed 25+ doorstep deliveries per shift with a 98% on-time arrival rate" to stand out against other applicants.

3

🚐 Highlight any previous van or multi-drop driving experience explicitly — Tesco wants drivers comfortable with loading, vehicle checks, and roadworthiness, so name these tasks directly.

4

🤝 Include a short example of handling a difficult customer interaction calmly, as the advert specifically calls out communicating substitutions and short-dated items at the doorstep.

5

🕐 Note your availability clearly in your application — the role has specific evening and weekend windows (Sun/Wed/Thu evenings, Fri evenings, Sat all day), so confirming you match these slots removes a key barrier.

Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Tesco's reputation for putting customers first is exactly the environment where I want to apply my delivery driving experience — which is why the Customer Delivery Driver role at Ryde Extra caught my attention. I hold a valid full UK driving licence with a clean record, and I have hands-on experience completing multi-drop deliveries on time while communicating clearly with customers at the doorstep, including handling substitutions and resolving concerns calmly.

My background in customer-facing delivery roles has equipped me with strong vehicle safety check routines, careful load management, and the ability to work independently across a varied shift pattern. I am fully available for the advertised evening and Saturday windows and understand the importance of representing Tesco professionally on every doorstep visit.

1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered excellent service to a customer in a challenging situation.

Situation: During a busy Saturday shift I arrived at a customer's address to find that 4 of their 20 items had been substituted, including a birthday cake they had specifically ordered. Task: I needed to manage their disappointment professionally at the doorstep without delaying the remaining 22 deliveries on my route. Action: I calmly explained each substitution, offered a full refund on the cake immediately via the handheld device, and suggested the closest alternative we had on the van. I also noted their feedback for the store manager. Result: The customer thanked me directly and left a positive comment card at the store the following week. I completed the remaining deliveries within their time slots.
2Question

Describe a time when your plans changed unexpectedly while working independently — how did you respond?

Situation: Halfway through a 30-drop delivery route, a road closure due to a burst water main blocked my planned route through the town centre. Task: I had 14 remaining deliveries and 11 customers in the affected area, with time slots closing within 90 minutes. Action: I pulled over safely, used the in-cab sat nav to reroute, and prioritised the furthest customers first to work back efficiently. I called the depot to flag the delay and they contacted 3 customers whose slots would be missed by more than 15 minutes. Result: I completed 12 of the 14 remaining deliveries on time and the 2 delayed customers were rescheduled with no complaints logged against my round.
