Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Highlight your valid UK driving licence prominently in your CV header or Personal Statement, as it is the single non-negotiable requirement stated in the advert.

2

📊 Quantify your delivery or customer-facing experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ doorstep deliveries per shift with a 98% on-time rate across a 6-month period'.

3

🎯 Mention any experience handling order discrepancies, refunds, or customer complaints at the doorstep — the advert specifically calls out substitutions and short-dated items as key responsibilities.

4

🚐 Include any van or LGV driving experience, vehicle safety checks, or loading/unloading duties to directly mirror the 'loading the van safely and completing all checks' requirement.

5

🤝 Reference your ability to work independently for long periods while remaining accountable to a base team — the advert explicitly states drivers work autonomously for much of the day.

Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Tesco's reputation for putting customers at the heart of every delivery is precisely why the Customer Delivery Driver role at Slough Extra appeals to me. With a clean UK driving licence held for over three years and a background in customer-facing roles, I am confident in my ability to represent Tesco professionally at every doorstep, handle order substitutions calmly, and complete all pre-drive vehicle safety checks to the required standard.

My background in delivery and customer service has equipped me with the ability to manage a full round of 20+ time-slotted drops independently, adapt to last-minute route changes, and resolve customer concerns — including refunds and short-dated items — with a warm and reassuring manner. I understand that each delivery is a direct reflection of the Tesco brand.

Exemples de réponses STAR

Réponses modèles avec la méthode Situation-Tâche-Action-Résultat. À adapter à votre vécu.

1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered outstanding service to a customer in a challenging situation.

Situation: During a busy Saturday evening shift, I arrived at a customer's address to find that 4 of their 18 items had been substituted with different brands, and the customer was visibly frustrated as the order included items for a birthday celebration. Task: I needed to resolve the situation quickly, maintain the delivery schedule, and leave the customer feeling valued. Action: I calmly walked the customer through each substitution, explained the reasons, and immediately processed a refund for the two items they did not want to keep — all within 6 minutes at the doorstep. Result: The customer thanked me directly and later left a 5-star review mentioning my name. I still completed the remaining 14 drops within my time slots that evening.
2Question

Describe a time when you had to adapt quickly to an unexpected change while working independently.

Situation: Midway through a 20-drop delivery round, my sat-nav failed and a road closure added an unplanned diversion of roughly 3 miles to my route. Task: I had 11 drops remaining and was already 8 minutes behind schedule. Action: I pulled over safely, used my phone's maps application to recalculate the most efficient sequence for the remaining addresses, and contacted the depot to flag two customers whose slots were at risk. Result: I completed all 11 remaining deliveries with only one slot running 4 minutes late, and the depot had already called ahead to that customer to manage expectations. No complaints were raised.
