📊 Quantify your delivery experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ doorstep deliveries per shift with a 98% on-time rate across a 6-month period'.

Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Tesco's reputation for putting customers first is exactly what draws me to the Customer Delivery Driver role at the Prestatyn Superstore. I hold a valid full UK driving licence with no penalty points and have hands-on experience completing time-critical deliveries while maintaining a high standard of doorstep customer service — two qualities central to this position.

My background in delivery driving includes conducting pre-drive vehicle safety checks, safely loading and organising cargo to prevent damage, and communicating clearly with customers about order changes or substitutions. Over a 12-month period in a previous delivery role, I consistently met 95% of scheduled time slots across 20+ daily drops, resolving the majority of customer queries at the door without escalation.

Exemples de réponses STAR

Réponses modèles avec la méthode Situation-Tâche-Action-Résultat. À adapter à votre vécu.

1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered excellent customer service under time pressure.

Situation: During a busy Saturday shift at a local courier company, my route ran 25 minutes behind after a road closure near Rhyl diverted me through Abergele. Task: I had 14 remaining deliveries and several customers had already messaged asking for updates. Action: I contacted the depot to flag the delay, then personally called the 3 customers with the tightest time windows to explain the situation and offer a revised arrival time. I reorganised the remaining drop order to minimise further delays. Result: All 14 deliveries were completed within 40 minutes of the original slots, and 2 of the 3 customers I called specifically mentioned the proactive communication in their feedback, contributing to a 4.9-star rating for that shift.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt quickly to an unexpected change while working independently.

Situation: Whilst on a solo delivery round for a grocery firm, I arrived at a customer's address to find 4 items in their order had been incorrectly picked — two were wrong products entirely. Task: I needed to resolve the issue at the door without access to a supervisor, keeping the customer satisfied and logging the discrepancy accurately. Action: I apologised clearly, explained the substitution policy, offered an immediate refund on the 2 incorrect items via the handheld device, and noted the picking error in the system for the store manager. Result: The customer accepted the resolution and left a positive review mentioning the professional handling. The store used my report to identify a recurring picking error on that product line, preventing the same issue for 30 subsequent orders.
