Nos conseils pour postuler

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Place your QTS qualification prominently at the top of your CV under your personal statement, as the advert lists it as the first essential requirement.

2

📊 Quantify your classroom impact: e.g. "Improved KS4 English Language pass rate from 61% to 78% across two academic years" to stand out among supply candidates.

3

🎯 Explicitly state the key stages you have taught (KS3 and KS4) in your experience section, as the advert specifically requires both — don't leave this implicit.

4

📚 Mention any CPD courses completed, particularly those via The National College or similar platforms, as Tradewind highlights CPD access as a key benefit and values teachers who engage with it.

5

🤝 If you are an ECT or returning teacher, include a brief note in your personal statement addressing your readiness for supply or flexible roles, since the advert explicitly welcomes these profiles.

1Question

Tell me about a time you successfully managed a challenging classroom situation — what did you do and what was the outcome?

Situation: During a long-term supply placement at a Merseyside comprehensive, I inherited a Year 10 class with a history of low engagement and persistent low-level disruption in English lessons. Task: I needed to re-establish routines and rebuild the group's confidence in the subject before their mock examinations, six weeks away. Action: I introduced a structured seating plan, clear lesson routines with a visible timer, and short, varied tasks every 15 minutes to sustain focus. I also held brief one-to-one check-ins with three pupils identified as key influencers. Result: Disruption incidents dropped noticeably within two weeks, and the group's average mock score improved by 9 percentage points compared to their previous internal assessment.
2Question

Describe how you have handled the transition into a new school or supply placement quickly and effectively.

Situation: I was called in at 24 hours' notice to cover a maternity absence at a secondary school in Birkenhead, with no handover notes and three different year groups to teach on day one. Task: I had to establish credibility with unfamiliar classes and deliver coherent lessons with minimal preparation time. Action: I arrived 45 minutes early, introduced myself to the Head of English, reviewed the scheme of work on the department shared drive, and prepared a flexible lesson structure adaptable to any year group. I used a class novel extract already on the reading list to anchor all three lessons. Result: The Head of English asked Tradewind to extend my placement to a full half-term, citing positive feedback from two form tutors and no behaviour referrals in my first week.
