Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV personal statement with your valid UK driving licence details and years of driving experience, as the advert lists this as the primary hard requirement.

2

📊 Quantify your delivery experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ customer deliveries per shift with a 98% on-time rate across a 40-mile radius.'

3

🚐 Highlight any previous van or multi-drop delivery roles explicitly, as the advert emphasises safe loading, vehicle checks and roadworthiness — mirror this language.

4

🤝 Include a concrete example of handling a difficult customer interaction (e.g. substitutions or missing items) to address the advert's emphasis on communicating order changes reassuringly.

5

🎯 Mention any experience working independently without direct supervision, as the role notes you will 'work independently for much of the day' — frame this as a strength in your profile.

Aperçu — adapté à Tesco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Tesco's reputation for putting customers first is precisely what draws me to the Customer Delivery Driver role at the Ipswich Extra store. With a clean UK driving licence held for over three years and hands-on experience in customer-facing delivery work, I am confident I can represent Tesco professionally at every doorstep, handling order substitutions and short-dated items with the reassuring, friendly manner your customers deserve.

My background in multi-drop delivery has equipped me with strong vehicle safety check routines, efficient van loading practices, and the ability to manage a full round of 20+ deliveries independently while consistently meeting customer time slots. I understand that each delivery is someone's weekly shop, and I treat every order with the care and attention that reflects that.

1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered excellent customer service under time pressure.

Situation: During a busy Saturday shift at my previous delivery job, I was running 15 minutes behind schedule after a road closure added distance to my route. Task: I needed to complete 8 remaining deliveries within their booked slots while keeping customers informed. Action: I called ahead to the next three customers to let them know of the slight delay, reassured them their orders were on the way, and adjusted my route using the satnav to recover time. Result: I completed all 8 deliveries within a maximum of 10 minutes late, and two customers specifically mentioned the proactive call when leaving feedback. My shift ended with a 4.9 out of 5 satisfaction rating that day.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt quickly to a change while working independently.

Situation: Midway through a 20-drop delivery round, I discovered that 6 orders contained a substituted item — a different brand of milk — that had not been flagged on my manifest. Task: I needed to handle each customer conversation individually without guidance from the depot. Action: I reviewed the substitution details on the handheld device, prepared a clear explanation of the reason and the refund process, and approached each doorstep calmly and confidently. I processed 4 refunds on the spot and noted 2 customers who were happy with the substitute. Result: None of the 6 customers escalated a complaint, and the depot supervisor noted my handling as a positive example in the team briefing the following Monday.
