I nostri consigli per candidarsi

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with a Personal Statement that explicitly names SEN experience (ASD, ADHD, speech and language) as the advert lists these as primary requirements in the 'About the Role' section.

2

📊 Quantify your SEN support experience: e.g. 'Delivered 1:1 support to 4 pupils with ASD across a 12-month placement, contributing to a 20% improvement in on-task behaviour scores'.

3

🎯 Mention your DBS status prominently — note whether it is on the update service, as the advert specifically requests this and it speeds up placement.

4

🤝 Reference collaboration with SENCOs and class teachers by name of role, as the advert explicitly lists working closely with SENCOs and support staff as a core duty.

5

🌐 Tailor your CV to highlight experience in mainstream (not just specialist) settings, as all roles are within mainstream primary schools — this distinction matters to Richmond upon Thames schools.

1Question

Tell me about a time you supported a pupil with SEN who was struggling socially — what did you do and what was the outcome?

Situation: A 7-year-old boy with ASD in my Year 2 class was becoming increasingly isolated during lunch and break times, refusing to engage with peers. Task: My role was to support his social development alongside his academic needs. Action: I introduced a structured 'buddy system' with two classmates and ran three short social skills sessions per week using visual scenario cards, coordinating with the SENCO to align this with his EHC plan targets. I also briefed lunchtime supervisors on consistent strategies. Result: Within six weeks, the pupil was independently initiating conversations with his buddy group, and his class teacher noted a marked reduction in meltdowns — from roughly four per week to fewer than one.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt your approach mid-session because a pupil's needs changed unexpectedly.

Situation: During a 1:1 literacy session with a Year 3 girl who had ADHD, she became visibly dysregulated after a difficult morning break — something I had not anticipated. Task: I needed to salvage the 30-minute session and still meet her reading targets for the week. Action: I immediately switched from the planned worksheet activity to a movement-based phonics game using flashcards on the floor, giving her physical engagement while keeping the learning objective intact. I also used a visual timer to break the session into two 12-minute blocks with a two-minute reset in between. Result: She completed the reading target for that session and her class teacher commented that the movement-based approach was subsequently adopted for two other pupils with similar profiles.
