Nos conseils pour postuler

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with a Personal Statement that explicitly names 'construction consultancy', 'PBSA' and 'residential' experience, as the advert flags consultancy-side background as a hard requirement.

2

📊 Quantify project delivery: e.g. 'Delivered 3 PBSA schemes totalling 450 beds from feasibility to handover, managing budgets of £8M–£14M'.

3

🎯 Dedicate a bullet to Employer's Agent duties — the advert lists EA exposure as highly advantageous, so even limited EA experience should be called out explicitly.

4

🏅 Highlight chartered status or APC progress (MRICS, MAPM or MCIOB) prominently under your qualifications section, as the consultancy offers APC support and values progression.

5

🤝 Include a specific example of chairing project meetings and managing multi-disciplinary consultant teams, as the role requires direct client and contractor coordination with minimal oversight.

1Question

Tell me about a time you took full ownership of a project with minimal oversight — what challenges did you face and how did you resolve them?

Situation: I was assigned sole PM responsibility for a 110-unit residential scheme when my line manager left the business mid-RIBA Stage 3. Task: I needed to maintain client confidence, keep the design team on programme and prepare tender documents without senior cover. Action: I restructured the weekly design team calls into focused 45-minute discipline reviews, introduced a live risk register shared with the client, and escalated only two decisions to the director. I also brought the M&E consultant back on programme by negotiating a revised submission date tied to a fee milestone. Result: Tender documents were issued only 8 days late, the client renewed the framework appointment, and I was promoted to lead PM within 6 months.
2Question

Describe a situation where a project programme slipped. How did you identify the issue, communicate it to the client, and recover the schedule?

Situation: On a 280-bed PBSA project, the structural engineer submitted drawings 4 weeks late, pushing the contractor's mobilisation date and threatening a September student intake deadline. Task: I needed to recover 4 weeks without increasing the £9.2M contract sum. Action: I called an emergency programme workshop with the contractor and structural engineer, agreed a phased information release schedule, and negotiated a 3-week overlap between enabling works and superstructure design. I briefed the client within 24 hours with a revised programme and a written risk summary. Result: Practical completion was achieved 6 days ahead of the revised date, the student intake was unaffected, and the client cited the recovery as a key reason for awarding us a second PBSA scheme.
