Our tips for applying

5 recommandations générées par notre IA pour maximiser vos chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with your valid UK driving licence details (full/automatic, years held, penalty points) as this is the single non-negotiable requirement stated in the advert.

2

📊 Quantify your delivery experience: e.g. 'Completed 25+ customer doorstep deliveries per shift with a 98% on-time rate' to demonstrate time slot discipline Tesco explicitly requires.

3

🌐 Highlight any experience handling substitutions, refunds or order queries at the doorstep — the advert specifically calls this out as a key responsibility.

4

🎯 Mention vehicle safety checks or pre-drive inspection experience (e.g. daily walkaround checks) to show you understand roadworthy compliance, referenced directly in the role duties.

5

🤝 Include a brief example of independent working with team support — the advert stresses working alone on the road while liaising with a base team, so demonstrating both traits strengthens your application.

1Question

Tell me about a time you delivered excellent customer service in a face-to-face or doorstep setting.

Situation: While working as a delivery driver for a local grocery firm, I arrived at an elderly customer's home to find that two of her regular items had been substituted. Task: I needed to explain the changes clearly, ensure she was happy with the alternatives, and not leave her feeling let down. Action: I calmly walked her through each substitution, explained the reason, and offered a refund on the one item she didn't want. I also carried her bags to the kitchen, which wasn't required but took under two minutes. Result: She called the depot to compliment the service, and I was recognised in the team briefing the following week.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt quickly to an unexpected change while working independently.

Situation: Midway through a 28-stop delivery route, my sat-nav lost signal in a rural area and two addresses had incomplete postcodes. Task: I had to reroute on the fly to avoid missing customer time slots. Action: I pulled over safely, used a paper map in the van and called the depot for address clarification on one property, then reordered my remaining 14 stops to recover 20 minutes. Result: I completed all deliveries within their time windows, with only one customer receiving their order 4 minutes late, who I had pre-warned by phone.
